Luxor
Puzzle your way through ancient Egypt!
The pyramids are in peril, and only your quick wits and quicker reflexes can save Egypt from certain doom! Colored spheres roll relentlessly along a convoluted track; your objective is to remove them all from the screen before they can enter your pyramid. Do you have what it takes to protect this mystical land?
The game play in Luxor where the sole objective is to match 3 gems in a row together by swapping any gem with any of its adjacent neighbours. Once 3 gems are matched, they explode and disappear where new gems will fall from the top of the screen to fill in the space. Sometimes, these new gems will coincidentally cause new matches and when a series of matches happen a ‘cascade’ happens.

Gameplay
Luxor’s gameplay is similar to the games Puzz Loop and Zuma, in that it challenges the user to eliminate colored magical spheres by causing three or more spheres of the same color to collide. Players do this primarily by shooting additional spheres from a winged scarab which they guide back and forth along the bottom of the screen. When spheres are eliminated, nearby spheres which now form a segment of three or more of the same color will also explode in a chain reaction.
During gameplay, the on-screen spheres continuously advance forward, pushed themselves by additional small scarabs. If any sphere reaches the player’s pyramid, he or she loses a life and is forced to restart the level. If the player succeeds in eliminating a certain number of spheres without this occurring, new spheres cease to arrive and the level can be completed by removing those which remain.
Multiple difficulty levels are available as well, with play at higher levels yielding higher scores.
Powerups
Power-ups are modeled from existing games, such as one which slows down the movement of the spheres, and one which temporarily causes the spheres to move backwards.
Luxor: Amun Rising
An expansion pack called Luxor: Amun Rising came out in 2005. It was essentially identical to the original game, save for different maps and a few new powerups.
